The Individual NOW account earns interest depending upon the balance maintained in the account. A $1,250.00 deposit will open a NOW account, and there isn't a monthly fee if the balance does not drop below $1,250.00 at any time during the statement cycle. The NOW account is a limited activity account, with 25 free checks per statement cycle. Beginning with the 26th check, a $0.20 per check fee is charged. It is considered a "tiered" account, and the interest rate is determined according to the following schedule:

$0.00 - 7,000.00
$7,000.01 - 12,000.00
$12,000.01 - and above
